Patriotic Pet Picture Fundraiser was held on Saturday, June 24, 2023
The Patriotic Pet Picture fundraising event was a huge success! With eighteen photo sessions, fourteen people and twenty-four dogs photographed, we were pretty busy. By the end of the day we had raised $350 and had a great time! Our first dog of the day had been Freya, a 9 month old puppy in training for Patriot Paws. The Board was so impressed with Freya, that they decided to donate $250 to Patriot Paws.
But every one of our fundraisers are a lot of hard work!!! There is so much to do - set up for the photo sessions, which includes unpacking, hanging and steaming the background to take out the wrinkles. Then lay out the carpeting, set up the stool and then set up, position and test the lights. Next was setting up the table and getting organized for the customers. And lastly, and most importantly was getting the subjects settled and taking the photographs!
None of this could have been done without the help of the following wonderful individuals: Sandy McAFee, Char Neimi, Nancy Buenzow for manning the check-in table and directing folks to the photography area; Lorraine Wilson and Kim Grasser for their assistance in the photography sessions and last but not least, Donna Steibel, lighting specialist and photographer extraordinaire!
Below are a few of the bloopers from our photo sessions - just to give you an idea of the challenges faced when getting dogs to pose for photos - or look at the camera, although sometimes the dogs are perfectly positioned but their people aren't!!
