A swap meet is a gathering in which enthusiasts or collectors trade or exchange items of common interest. And what do we have in common? Our love of Dogs!!! Do you have any dog items that you no longer use, need or want? Or are you interested in getting something new to your dog? Well, if so, this is your chance to see if someone else may take those items off your hands in exchange for the perfect item for your pet. Saturday, March 12th Regular monthly meeting with special guest speaker, Paul Lake, founder and ED of Search One Rescue. Search One Rescue Teams help official government agencies locate lost or missing persons, including missing children, elderly walk-a-ways, suicidal persons, human remains, disaster victims, and many other types of searches. Paul will bring one or two of his search and rescue dogs for us to meet. This should be a very interesting presentation. More information about Search One Rescue Here. Saturday, April 9th Regular monthly meeting with a pet owner meet and brag event. Now, what exactly does that mean? We are asking members to bring (or send us) photos of their dog(s) and take a few minutes to introduce yourself and your furry companions to everyone. Tell us how you found, rescued or purchased your beloved pet. What breed? Characteristics you most love (and those that drive you crazy). Any special training you & your pet went through. This is a chance to tell the whole club about your furry companion. Saturday, May 14th Regular monthly meeting with special guest, Dr Amanda Florsheim. Dr. Florsheim is a native Dallas veterinarian and certified behavior consultant-canine (CBCC-KA). She is the only veterinarian in the Dallas-Ft Worth area whose practice focuses exclusively on behavior medicine. Dr. Florsheim is the founder and owner of Veterinary Behavior Solutions and The Training Studio in Carrollton. Be sure to attend this invaluable meeting to hear from a true dog expert. Saturday, June 11th Regular monthly meeting with a representative from Therapy Pals of Golden Triangle. Founded by Harriet Tunnell in 2006 it was the first therapy dog organization in North Texas to be recognized by the AKC. The organization proudly provides animal-assisted therapy in many locations in and around Denton County. They also offer a four-week course where dogs and handlers are introduced to the special skills needed to participate in animal-assisted therapy, including the added distractions of the sights and sounds of wheelchairs, walkers, and therapy equipment that the team may encounter on visits. This class also teaches the guidelines and proper etiquette for participating in animal-assisted therapy. Mark your calendars now for this wonderful presentation. Saturday, July 9th Regular monthly meeting with Stephan Knight of Dogs Matter as our guest speaker. Dogs Matter offers a safe and healthy environment for their client’s dogs while they are seeking inpatient treatment, and if necessary, until they are healthy and stable enough to take care of their dog again. Founded in 2014 by Stephen Knight, they are the only nonprofit organization providing temporary foster care placement and supportive services specifically for addicts and alcoholics seeking treatment and transitioning into recovery. Dogs Matter understands the great need that exists for our services in the local recovery community, not just here in Dallas but all over the country for those willing to seek treatment for their substance use disorder. They take care of your best friend while you take care of yourself! Saturday, August 13th Regular monthly meeting with Gary B. Wells, Attorney at Law. Gary will give us a presentation about general estate planning needs, including pets and firearms. Gary is licensed to practice law in the states of Texas and California. He has also been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Northern and the Eastern Districts of California. Our club is fortunate to have Gary give us this important information so that our dear pets are taken care of should anything happen to us. We will also have a short presentation from Eileen Pierson, a resident here at Robson, about Apollo Rescue, a local animal rescue group. Saturday, September 10th Regular monthly meeting with Jamie Olin from the Texas Humane Legislation Network. Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) is the only Texas-based organization focused on addressing unjust state animal welfare laws. They are working to stop animal cruelty and abuse before it starts. Their IRS status as a 501c4 allows them to be political animal advocates, by lobbying and working with our representatives to fix our lenient animal cruelty laws. While there are *thousands* of 501c3s in Texas formed to help animals, they are *VERY* limited in how much they can lobby, and are outright prohibited from participating in any partisan activities. This promises to be a very interesting and informative meeting about how our State government work on behalf of animals. Saturday, October 8th Regular monthly meeting with Dr. Kirk Rexroat, Chiropractor from Argyle Family Chiropractic in Argyle TX. Dr Rexroat adjusts both people and canines and will be talking to our group about the philosophy of chiropractic care and how it can benefit your dog. Saturday, October 8th Annual Robson Ranch Women's Club Holiday Market and Happy Tails Dog Club is sponsoring two animal rescue organizations at the event. Both EARS from Dallas and Humane Tomorrow from Argyle will be bringing dogs to the event, so be sure to stop by before or after our meeting to visit both booths located at the front of the clubhouse. Saturday, November 5th 2022 Winter Holiday Mini Photo Sessions. The Happy Tails Dog Club is sponsoring Winter Holiday private photo mini sessions for your dog! NEW this year, you choose the background! We will have a Christmas background with or without Santa, a Hanukkah background, and a Kwanzaa background. The photo shoot event is on Saturday, November 5th, from 10a - 3:00p in the CATC building (room #103). Saturday, December 10th A holiday potluck and white dog (elephant) gift exchange!
