Another Successful Holiday Photo Fundraising Event
On Saturday, November 5th we had our annual Santa Paws Fundraiser - named the Winter Holiday Photos this year since we also provided backdrops with either a Hanukkah background or a Kwanzaa background. All the time slots were filled that morning and unfortunately we had one last minute cancellation and one no-show. Luckily we had one walk in that partially made up for them.
We had such a great variety of wonderful dogs!! From 7 month old pups to 15 years oldies but goodies, from flat coats to furry coats, they came in all colors with some dressed in holiday garb and others just ah la natuale ! Such beautiful dogs and the volunteers who worked at check-in and in the "photo booth" (room 103) were able to pet and love on all of them.
Speaking of Volunteers - we need to recognize them for all their help! We could not have done this without their help. The morning volunteers were Nancy Kilkenny and Melissa Crabill; the afternoon volunteers were Arlene Basford, Sheri Watkins and Ginna Thran. And we also had a very special guest volunteer - Paul Vicalvi as Santa. Paul used to be a Robson resident but has come back the last couple of years to be our Santa. With a few minor costume adjustments, Paul did a great job as Santa! Every single dog took to him - eventually!!
And our other very special volunteer was Linda Watrak, who came all the way from her new home in Southlake to help us out for the entire day! Not only she is great with dogs but she is a hoot and had the other volunteers thoroughly enjoying her great sense of humor! Board members Rebecca Laschinger and Lorraine Wilson were also there to help, along with our very own photographer extraordinaire - Donna Steibel!!
Just to give you a idea of what went on all day -just take a look at the photo gallery below. Many were taken while trying to get the dogs to sit where they were supposed to be but many are of the volunteers and Santa with the last name placard for each photo shoot plus lots of bloopers - arms and hands reaching in to the photo to steady a dog! It was a lot of hard work but oh so worth it as we raised $425 for the club!
