Another fantastic meeting was held on Saturday, June 11th with volunteers from Therapy Pals of Golden Triangle bringing their therapy dogs and talking to us about this wonderful organization. Elaine, a retired Clinical Research Associate, who has belonged to the organization for 11 years, began by talking about the history of Therapy Pals. It all started because one woman, Harriet Tunnell, a member of the Golden Triangle Dog Obedience Group, had the idea of training therapy dogs; she presented the idea to the group and was told, great idea but you've got to organize it yourself and so she did! That was in 2006 and the group has grown since then with over 60 dogs involved before the pandemic. So, let’s talk a bit more about the therapy dogs that came to our meeting! What sweet, loving animals, so calm, so relaxed and just so wonderful. Art Masciere brought his two therapy dogs, Corrie and Katie so we had a total of seven (7) therapy dogs at the meeting and each one of them were so incredibly special. All of us dog owners know how very special our own pets are and what a difference they make in our daily lives but just imagine taking your wonderful pet to places such as retirement homes, Juvenile detention facilities, Library's children reading programs and mental health facilities and what a huge impact they could have on others. Many thanks to Donna Steibel and Chelsea Wright for arranging for this group to come out and talk to us!
